Corridors 2020 – Proposal Deadline Extended to May 29

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the Corridors 2020 planning team, I am writing with the news that we have extended the proposal deadline through Friday, May 29, 2020. Learn more about the conference at We have received several strong proposals to date; however, due to the many disruptions resulting from the pandemic, we hope the deadline extension will elicit yet more of the smart, important work related to writing research and pedagogy, rhetorical studies, and professional and technical writing in and beyond SW Virginia. We also have confirmed with Jody Shipka of UMBC (plenary) and Jason Luther of Rowan University (zines pedagogy workshop) that they will be involved, and we will know more by mid-summer about what is appropriate in terms of their sharing their work online, in person, or both.

Above all, we want to remind you that we are committed to going forward with Corridors as a conference that will be fully or partly online on Saturday, September 19. If gathering in person proves possible and advisable in light of applicable public health guidelines recognized by the university at that time, we may convene in-person sessions in Shanks Hall, but the conference program will also accommodate fully online presentations and sessions.

So, please send in your proposals, forward the call to a colleague or friend who you think might be interested, and reply to this message with any questions you may have about this year’s event.

All the best,
