As follow-up to President Tim Sands’ message late this afternoon about Virginia Tech extending spring break through March 23, discontinuing face-to-face classes for the remainder of the semester, and shifting classes online, I am writing to share with you a guiding document the Composition Program Leadership Team has prepared to assist with making appropriate changes to section(s) of ENGL1105 or ENGL1106. We are asking everyone teaching ENGL1105 and/or ENGL1106 to read the document in the coming days. In it, you will find suggestions and guidance for modifying approaches to composition instruction with the goals of being flexible, supportive, clear about assignments and deadlines, and, above all, responsive to students.
